Needs

Donations of Goods & Services

Donations of new and gently used goods as well as in-kind services are another vital form of support for Family Service. There are ongoing needs for the following:

Food (perishable and non-perishable) for our Pantry. Our Pantry serves our families in need. FSA provides screened applicants with a week’s worth of groceries to feed their family three meals a day. In 2015, 774 families received emergency food assists, 5309 meals were served and over 20,000 people took advantage of our surplus food distribution. (The 20,000 number reflects multiple visits.)

Fresh fruits and vegetables – In our effort to promote healthy families and programs, this becomes more important.

Children’s arts & crafts supplies – used in our childcare center and distributed to families in need

Bedding & towels

Kitchen & household goods

Toiletries – toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant

Books for children and adults

Computers

Paper goods – napkins, paper towels, Kleenex, diapers

Clothing & coats – of special need are new or gently-used work attire, shoes, and warm coats

Furniture

Appliances

Repair & maintenance services

ITEMS WE CANNOT ACCEPT

*This list is to be used a guideline. There may be other items not listed that FSA cannot use in our programs or which must be turned down due to size, condition, or suitability.

It’s hard to say “no thank you” to a donation. However, if an item is not in usable condition, the costs of handling or disposal pulls funds that would otherwise support our clients. FSA reserves the right to refuse any donation. Please dispose of these items through an alternative responsible source.

Medicine (prescription and over the counter)

Hazardous Materials

Automobile parts

Electrical/mechanical items that do not work

Alcoholic Beverages (beer, wine, hard liquor etc.)

Bed Mattresses

Futons

Pillows

With the goal of self-sufficiency, we believe in offering a hand up, not just a hand out.

Effective July 1, 2016, Family Service Association of Redlands will no longer provide pick-up service for furniture or other large bulk items.

We appreciate that our community that has been so generous with these donations, but with our small staff we are unable to provide a pick-up service that works in a timely manner for all involved. We will still be accepting bulk items, but at the moment we do not have the capacity to pick them up.

Family Service Association of Redlands thanks you for your continued support.
